Stiles Hosts Technology Tour to Celebrate HOMAG’s 50th Anniversary

Stiles Machinery Inc. is pleased to recognize HOMAG’s 50th anniversary with a tribute tour of their German manufacturing facilities this fall.

In 2010, the HOMAG Group is celebrating 50 years of business. From modest beginnings, the two company founders Gerhard Schuler and Eugen Hornberger succeeded in developing what was to become the world’s leading woodworking machinery manufacturing group with an estimated world market share of 25 per cent and a workforce of over 5,000.  Innovative inventions such as the first edge banding machine using the hot-cold technique attracted global interest, which encouraged HOMAG to expand internationally. As early as the seventies, the company started to develop a network of sales and service companies along with exclusive sales partners in important regions worldwide. Today the HOMAG Group has grown to include over 22 sales and service companies and 60 exclusive sales partners around the world. HOMAG’s decision to broaden its international base from a very early stage of its development is paying dividends today: On average, 80 percent of the company’s turnover is generated abroad, with its machines and plants now exported to 100 countries.

As a proud supplier of the HOMAG Group since 1980, Stiles is celebrating the 50th anniversary by hosting a commemorative technology tour. The tour will depart from U.S. gateways on Saturday, September 25 for a week-long tour of German manufacturing facilities. Participants will learn how quality machinery is made and see what is being developed for worldwide markets. The tour will conclude with a celebration of HOMAG’s anniversary at their corporate headquarters in the beautiful Black Forest region.
