Second Annual Earth Day Networking Event
REHAU and Stiles Machinery are teaming up again this year for an Earth Day networking event at the CityFlats Hotel in downtown Holland on Thursday, April 21, 2011 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
The intent of the Earth Day networking event is to connect during happy hour with the local business community to explore common interests in sustainability. By hosting the event in the CitySen lounge of the hotel and by providing drink tickets and appetizers, the event sponsors hope to stimulate discussions about local sustainability efforts that are more than simply being “green”.
Last year’s inaugural event was conceptualized by local REHAU representatives who collaborated with Stiles Machinery to successfully draw a crowd of approximately 100 local business individuals from local furniture design and manufacturing companies as well as architects and designers. This year the event will be held the day before Earth Day, since April 22, 2011 is also Good Friday.
This event is also made possible with support by Charter House Industries (CHI), who was involved in the design and build of the CityFlats hotel; Green Giftz, whose owner, Karen Scarpino was recently recognized as a woman-owned business of the year by the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce; Formica, known for their GREENGUARD certified surfacing products; and Davidson Plyforms, a Leggett & Platt company, which has a division within their Grand Rapids plant, called Innovative Resin Technologies (IRT) that uses 100% recycled materials to offer high quality, environmentally friendly components for industries such as Furniture, Bedding, Industrial Outdoor Equipment, Marine, Packaging, Erosion Control and Architectural Landscaping.
