How Legere Group Moved to a Digital Environment Within Their 177,000 Sq. Ft. Facility
In the above video, Scott Thibodeau, Director of Manufacturing at Legere Group, explains how their shop implements automation and technology to be as efficient as possible.
About Legere Group
Established in 1975, Legere Group, Ltd. manufactures commercial and institutional millwork and provides interior architectural metal, glass, stretch fabric, and stone. Based in Avon, Connecticut, the business works on project locations extending from Northern New Jersey to Boston, Massachusetts. As one of the largest full-service custom architectural millwork manufacturers in the U.S., Legere focuses on large scopes of work that range in value from $1 million to over $12 million. All the manufacturing behind these projects come to fruition in the company’s 177,000 sq. ft. facility.
Working with Stiles to Implement Digital Solutions and Automated Processes
“Technology and digital solutions have changed us a lot over the years,” said Scott Thibodeau, Director of Manufacturing at Legere Group.
“It definitely changed process efficiency, moving to a digital environment,” Thibodeau added.
Automation and technology have impacted Legere Group’s business in more ways than one—including shifting toward 3D design creation with the iX software supported by Stiles, and gaining efficiencies on the shop floor by implementing more advanced machinery. One of those new machines is the STORETEQ S-200 from HOMAG, a panel storage system that Thibodeau noted houses approximately 15-17,000 sheets of material and feeds the material to four different machine locations in the shop.
Legere has also incorporated conveyor belt systems paired with their edgebanding machines, allowing one operator to run all edgebanding processes at a given time, as well as a Heesemann MFA Impression series sander.
